WHAT IS IT?
The ischial bursa is a small structure located on one of the bones of the pelvis, which can become inflamed and cause pain especially in people who sit for prolonged periods of time. An injection of local anesthetic and steroid (anti-inflammatory) is used to diagnose and treat the pain from ischial bursitis. The procedure is usually done under x-ray guidance.
